From Courtroom Dreams to Backstage Brilliance: A Legal Plot Twist
Some people dream of arguing landmark cases. I thought I could be one of them—until I realized that the real magic (and my actual skillset) happens behind the scenes, not in front of a courtroom.

The Winding Path That Skipped the Spotlight
After earning my BA in Criminology and English from Wilfrid Laurier University, I took a few years off before enrolling in Seneca’s paralegal program. I became a licensed paralegal in Ontario, completed my placement… and then made a very intentional decision: I didn’t want to practice. Turns out, the adrenaline of hearings wasn’t my thing—but legal research, editing, and formatting? That lit me up. I didn’t “fail” to find my place in law; I just found it in the quiet power of precision and support work (a fitting role for an introvert like me).

Document Whisperer. Detail Devotee. Quiet Force.
As a law clerk at Bird Bolt Law, I get to lean into my love of helping people and my desire for perfect formatting at the same time. I thrive on turning chaos into order—whether that’s editing legal documents, diving into research, getting a filing in on a tight deadline, or making sure everything looks and sounds just right. My secret sauce? I care deeply about getting the small things right, because I know they often make the biggest difference for the people we’re trying to help.

Two Pets, One Parkour Pup, and a Lot of Yarn
Working with Nicole again felt like coming full circle—her trauma-informed, empathetic approach reminded me why I entered law in the first place: to help people, thoughtfully and meaningfully. Outside of work, I’m usually running parkour drills with my dog Willow (she’s the athlete, I’m just here for the snacks), crocheting toys for the people I care about, or curled up with a cat and a novel that helps me escape into another world.
