SHE/HER
EQUITY & JUSTICE LAWYER
My Journey in Law and Advocacy
My legal career began with a simple but fundamental question: how do laws shape the lives of real people? That curiosity led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Society from York University, where I explored how laws influence society and impact issues of fairness, equity, and social justice. I continued my legal education at Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, where I discovered that law is not only a framework for resolving disputes but also a powerful tool for advancing justice and responding to real human experiences.
Learning from the Community and Developing my Experience
During law school, I worked with the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre in Thunder Bay, assisting women navigating separation from their partners in a supportive, community-based environment. I was also one of the first student caseworkers at Pro Bono Students Canada’s Family Justice Centre, where I guided self-represented litigants through family law proceedings and helped them feel empowered in the process. Through these experiences, I understood the importance of learning to recognize the lived experiences and unique circumstances of my clients to the best of my ability.
After law school, I articled at a Toronto-based civil litigation firm and was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2023. I began my initial practice at a family law firm, supporting clients through complex and often emotional matters. These experiences reinforced my commitment to help clients understand their options, make informed decisions, and feel supported every step of the way.
Building a Practice That Matters & Life Beyond the Law
I’m excited to be developing my human rights and employment law practice at Bird Bolt Law, where I aim to continue refining my ability to provide legal guidance that is practical, supportive, and rooted in each client’s lived experience. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me at a ballet barre, in a Pilates studio, watching reality TV for “research,” or slowly (but enthusiastically) working my way through my ever-growing book club reading list.
